THE BLAYS LANE DEVIL

Story Sent In by Tracy Bell

This story is fact and took place in a little village called Englefield Green in Surrey at a place called Blays Lane. Although I have tried to find out how it got its name (Blays Lane), I have as yet, been unable to find any information. I was heavily pregnent with my son at the time, and my husband and I were walking home after visiting my mother. We took a short cut down a place that is renowned for strange events and many eerie sightings.

We thought nothing of it as we took this route home on many occasions, although when the name of Blays Lane is mentioned the locals of which we are included; roll their eyes and whisper about what an evil place it is and that no-one should venture down there etc. It was a warm summer evening and the sun was setting, I was thinking what a lovely walk this was and that maybe the lane had got a bad rap when my husband was caught short and had to pop into the bushes in a hurry.

I carried on walking knowing my hubby would catch up in a sec taking in all the beautiful scenery. Suddenly a very tall, very black figure appeared in front of me. whatever it was,it did not make a sound just moved closer to me. Feeling very threatend for obvious reasons, I began to shout for my husband and knowing there was no way I could possibly out run this entity on account of my condition and also because I was frozen to the spot in fear, I continued to shout and by this time scream for my husband!

There was no escape route for me as to the left of me lay a large field surrounded by a tall barbed wire fence which had other barbed wire fences set at interviles the whole expance of the field. I would say about four or five in total. To the right of me was a 6ft wall which I knew even if I were not pregnent,I would never be able to climb. I carried on shouting and screaming for my hubby, beggining to back away from this terrible entity all the while this huge black figure began moving forward soundlessly. From behind me I heard my husbands pounding feet and his roars of fury thankfully getting closer to me.

Suddenly this huge black shape darted to the left of the lane through and I mean THROUGH! The barbed wire fence still not uttering or making any sound whatsoever. We watched as it carried on through the field and all the other Barbed wire fences, wondering the whole time how this could be possible, how could anybody litteraly run THROUGH Barbed wire fences without injuring themselves or being tangled up in them?

There was no blood or clothing caught as you would imagine there to be. Only two very terrified puzzled people. We are aware of one other story that involved a sighting of what friends of ours described as a dark shape with glowing red eyes which was dismissed as too much cider down the very same lane. Suffice to say we no longer dismiss the legend of The Blays Lane Devil!
