Definitely the strangest thing to happen to me in all the paranormal investigations I have been involved in so far, were the events at Hythe Church.
During the investigation it felt as though I was being taken over by a spirit whose purpose was to try and show me a historical event from their perspective, as they saw it. I had a strong feeling that the spirits name was William
I was shown an image of being with a group of Knights walking up to a doorway, then going inside into a vast, stone vaulted building. The Knights swords were drawn and raised, they were moving towards a distant kneeling figure.
The background became dark and the focus was on the kneeling man, I watched helplessly as the man was violently struck by the sword in the hand of William. The blow hit the kneeling man and sliced into his head, and a fountain of blood sprayed up into my view.
A medium who was with the team on the night also linked with William and I was astonished as they also saw a similar sequence of events.
Further investigation by me and the paranormal investigation team into the historical records of Hythe Church seem to point to one point in history. Although we cannot prove it, I believe we were shown Thomas Becket's murder from the viewpoint of William DeTracy, one of the four Knights who killed the archbishop that fateful day in December circa 1170.
The link with Hythe Church is tenuous but just a mile away is Saltwood Castle, the place where the four knights met and stayed prior to leaving for Canterbury. The whole thing was a draining and overwhelming experience, and one which I am still looking into for evidence to back it up.
For several years now I have visited the Isle of Wight for holidays and during my stays I became engrossed with one of the Islands most haunted location Knighton Gorges Manor. Whilst meeting with Gay Baldwin, author of the "Ghost Island" series of books, she informed me of some of the history of the manor and its hauntings.
It was the early history which has me looking at the site from a fresh perspective. In the 12th century, Knighton Gorges Manor was owned by Hugh De Morville. De Morville was one of the four knights who murdered Becket. Perhaps my fascination with Knighton was not just curiosity but something far deeper from my hidden past. Perhaps William De Tracey visited the manor at Knighton to meet De Morville at some point which is why I get such a strong feeling of being linked to it. Who can say....
But the whole series of events and newer things I uncover in my own research keep digging away at the puzzle, which I hope in time will become clearer. Does anyone on here have any theories?
