"Teeth of the Dog is now accepting Challengers" is the message from the Casa de Campo Golf Resort. The only golf course in the Caribbean to be listed as one of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World, Teeth of the Dog is one of the most exhilarating golf courses you can play.
Designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1971, the breathtakingly beautiful Teeth of the Dog Course has eight holes on the ocean, seven holes right on the coast and then another with its green near the water. Even the great Pebble Beach doesn't have eight ocean holes, and with some of the best par 3 holes in the world this is a truly memorable golfing experience.
With the help of some 300 local residents, Pete Dye and his wife Alice transformed this overgrown rocky wasteland virtually by hand, into one of the finest golf courses in the world.
Play on the seven water holes is wild with errant shots bouncing off rocks into the sea with strong Caribbean ocean breezes challenging every stroke. But it is the magical location combined with Dye's personal touches that catapulted the Teeth of the Dog Course to be one of the best in the world. Although credited with designing the course, Dye is quick to point out that the golf course was designed by the man upstairs. He said "I created eleven holes and God created seven!"
During the summer of 2005, the resort renovated all the greens on the Teeth of the Dog. There's also more "bite" than ever as the resort added a whopping 435 yards to make the course 7350 yards from the championship tees.
The Teeth of the Dog Course at Casa de Campo is a golf course that you just have to play once in your life.
